what's new
CTC is part of a team of architects, planners and engineers in the process of appropriately rebuilding the roof of the vacant Philadelphia Naval Home's Biddle Hall. As a result of a fire in February 2003, the metal and wood truss roof suffered greatly exposing the building to the harsh elements of this year's fluctuating temperatures and sporadic weather conditions.

This impressive Greek Revival building was designed in 1827 by William Strickland. Mr. Strickland incorporated into Biddle Hall the latest contemporary methods, at the time, of health care and fire safety. The brick vaults supported by cast iron beams and the overall masonry construction with iron columns supporting the piazzas offered a notoriously fireproof structure. As a result, the 2003 fire did not spread to the remainder of the building.

Stay tuned for more information and photos.
